English as a Second Language (ESL)

At Royal Crown College of Business and Technology, the English as a Second Language (ESL) program has 6 levels, and is taught in small class groups, by our experienced teachers. We have classes ranging from Beginners to Advanced levels and enroll students all year round.

Graduates will receive a Certificate indicating their proficiency. We have several starting dates to accommodate most students' needs.

We can also customize a program for students with specific needs, such as students who wish to improve their Business English Skills.

What should students expect while they are enrolled in the ESL program?

What is taught in the ESL Program?

Beginner:?

This course is for non-fluent students. The main skills taught are listening and speaking, but reading and writing are also included. New vocabulary reflects everyday living. Canadian culture is presented through conversation. Students will make use of the powerful Syntality™ computer program for assistance in learning English more quickly.

Intermediate/Advanced:

Students who have completed the beginner course or who already have some English language skills, will enroll in these programs. Students will make use of the powerful Syntality™ computer program for assistance in learning English more quickly.

These levels have a large reading and writing component for students preparing for further studies in English or for using English in the workplace. A variety of reading materials, including short articles will be used, as students will work on the recognition of main ideas and key and supporting points. Writing topics will include note taking from oral presentations, personal correspondences, and paragraph writing, and practising various sentence forms, such as, compound and complex sentences. There will be a focus on listening activities and using formal and informal oral communication.

Students can be accepted into Business Foundation program of Centennial College directly, upon completion of ESL course in our college, no TOEFL or admission ESL Test are required.
