English as a Second Language (ESL)

Royal Crown Academic School offers ESL classes to students, whose first language is not English, to assist them in learning or improving their English language skills. Depending on their previous experience and proficiency with English, students may be placed in ESL Level 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5.

The skills students learn in these courses will provide them with academic English support so that they will have another educational tool to help students meet with success in High School, University or College level courses. This intensive ESL program includes courses in reading, comprehension, listening, conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. These courses follow the Ontario Ministry of Education Curriculum guidelines; are 110 hours of instructional time and; students, who are studying ESL, may use up to 3 compulsory academic credits in ESL towards an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

Classes are small so that students will have more individual time to work with their teacher, while also having a chance to interact with their classmates.
